Just about everything that 18-year-old producer Steve Lacy touches seems to turn to gold. After his work with The Internet earned him a Grammy nomination last year, Lacy has now turned his attention to his solo material. Out of nowhere this week he dropped the 6-track song series Steve Lacy’s Demo and to accompany has released a double video to ‘Ryd’ and ‘Dark Red’. The former features Lacy’s signature close harmony vocals, noodling guitars and live-feel drums, and the accompanying video sees Lacy meanindering around a coin laundry while his girl waits in the car outside. ‘Dark Red’, however, sees Lacy now trapped in the boot of his car while he sings plainly: "Something bad is about to happen to me / I don’t know it but I feel it coming".  Tune in and fade out to the utterly brilliant whole project here. -HM
